    1965 Dodge A108

Yet another fabulous old heap showed up on my doorstep. Plans are pretty minimal for this one; leave it stock, get it mechanically right, and drive it while I do some bodywork on it. Maybe use it for next year's Power Tour cruiser. Just your basic old school slant six/three on the tree.

I have never driven one of those, but I think it would be fun. Although my buddy back in high school many, many years ago used to have something similar made by VW. It even had a top that would pop up like a camper. We had a nick name for his ride. We use to call it the "Magic Stabbin Cabin". I will let you guess why.......

I've had a 65 Chevy van, a 64 Ford Falcon van (hence my screen name) and now this Dodge. I've got the big three covered, guess I need a VW someday down the road.

These are a blast to drive; don't need much power to put a smile on your face.

I'll ask my wife if I can call her Daphne when she's riding in it.

My late father in law bought a 63 Econoline van from the phone company in So. Calif. when we moved to Missouri in 1972. The first thing I did to it was relocate the battery, it was under the driver's seat, to the left rear in a marine battery box. I used 4/0 cable my brother in law had brought home from a site where he was working. It never had a battery problem.

Nice score and that thing is in excellent shape! Is this going to replace the astro, or did you just want something more vintage?

Yeah, I got a buyer for the Astro so I decided to go older. This thing has some rust issues from some previous really bad bodywork and paint but most of the patch panels are available. Just going to fix an area at a time while I drive it; not sure if it'll get totally finished or not. I usually don't keep them around very long before I get bored and want to build something else.

Make that a windowless van and it would be like the one I used to drive when making deliveries for a stationary supplier I worked for in '65/6. With the 3 speed it was geared low, had pretty good spunk for a leaning tower of power. Enjoy the ride........

I had a few slant sixes over the years and always liked them. I think all of the pre-77 ones had forged cranks and rods, too.

Lol! I'll tell you what; I can rebuilt the slant six for about $500. If you can get me a Hellcat drive train for that; I'll put in in there.

Good, I really don't have one, I just was just checking if you'd bite Closest thing I got is the motor in my Ram, but I'd like to keep that for now.
