spent a week on it. got the right seal and it fell in place in about 15 min . the repro glass is just a tiny bit too big. takes a bunch of dawn soap to get them to slide in . got an old nasty slick rope for them .

Every shop needs a jumbo bottle of Dawn soap. Good for every kind of lube on soft parts, i.e., getting rubber parts to seat, vacuum fittings, and oh by the way - works pretty good with hot water on cleaning up stuff you get back from the machine shop - blocks, heads, cranks, etc. It's also good to wash up the hands (who would have thought?)
Word of advice - get you own bottle and DO NOT borrow mama's (ask me how I know this?)"Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty." John Basil Barnhil

This is right before my first real drive. I have a car buddy that is not doing so well these days so I took the truck to his house so he can take a look at it. The truck rides nice but the best part was seeing the smile on his face when he was checking it out.

My respect for you just went up another notch - one of the great things about hot rods is that they are so universally liked and appreciated. Your visit was therapy for an ailing friend. What a cool thing to do and here's hope's and prayers you'll be able to take him for a spin to local hamburger joint in this beauty before too long!
