Times 3 from Me! Beautiful.
Well I got the wood stained and protected.
Stained. I mixed three stains to come up with this color. It very close to the matching my seat. I like it.

To protect the wood I decided to use Total Boat Marine Gleam Varnish Gloss. I like it because you can do like 3 coats a day with an hour or 3 hours between
coats depending on the weather. I used a foam brush to apply it.

That's going to look great!
I know I'm probably asking a stupid question, but you're putting the same finish on the bottom side too, right Bam?
HA HA Ha, Lol!
No such thing as a stupid question!
That's what my drill sergeant said, so that the stupid ones would open their mouths and reveal themselves!
I'd say you've got it covered Bam, as expected from your attention to details to date! It's amazing how many guys will spend hours making a beautiful piece of furniture, especially for outdoors, and only finish the top saying "Why would I waste finish on the part no one will see!! Then the top warps.....
I'd say that what you maybe saw as a stupid question from a stupid guy may have saved someone's life later. If the guy truly didn't know, then to him the question was important, and helped him learn. The most dangerous guys are those who don't know and try to BS their way through a problem. Your Drill Sergeant likely understood that....Quote:

I had great drill sergents, both times!
Well I got some of the wood installed, but I have to stop here until I have some of my buddies come over to help install the bed on the truck. I have access to the bolts that mount it to the frame at this point.

That looks really nice Bam! I remember we built a 54 Chevy half ton at a body shop I worked at years ago. The worst thing I hated about that truck was the way the bed attached to the truck. The bolts went through cross members we made to secure the bed to the frame. That was a normal thing. But then the owner had us put the wood floor over them and we had to clearance the wood to lay on top of the bolts. So in 5 years when the truck came back for work, we had to pull the floor to pull the bed without scratching any of it. It sure looked cool having no mounting bolts in the floor though.
