Ken, there's one of those shown in that last picture Bat posted....

The 4x2 layout of the log set up,makes it,that all four work together at one time. If it was only one log in the center with 4 carbs lined up front to back, sure it would be possible to have something like 3x2 set up were you could start out on center carbs an then open ends, but that would also not flow as well to each port. Later next week,I'll take some more time to do tuning an see if me an my buddy Mike can get it all running better.
Yeah, the more I looked at the picture there's no way to use one, or even one per log. I expect that once you start seeing improvement it's just a matter of homing in on the jet size, making tiny changes in all four, then double checking the flow balance before making a run and shutting down to pull a few plugs. Might actually be a neat project to spend some time with.
you can try dialing them in one at a time by covering the other 3 carbs also make sure you don't have an issue of severe throttle shaft wear leakage---
by covering 3 of them and working on them individually you can quickly identify any particular one that is wayyyyyyyyyy out------
big bill holman use to put a drop of oil on the shafts to see if it was leaking. neat trick . the oil would seal it for just long enough to change the idle. two is a pia , three is a nightmare , after that you run out of hair .
if you find a shagt that is leaking you can temporairily seal it by some ghassis grease or somilar stuff---just make sure its dislvable in gasolene so it will clean itself up on the internal places.
throttle plates are where I start on carb rebuilds/tunes-they are what control the air to the engine and must be good-------
So Jerry, just to be clear, ghassis grease or somilar stuff can be used to temporairily seal a shagt leak, but only if its a ghassis grease that's dislvable in gasolene?;):LOL::LOL::LOL:
I know, I know, you're typing like an old maid school teacher, just a hunt'n pecker, one finger style which is totally OK. ;) Maybe try a different finger - that one's got a batting average that's falling today on keystrike accuracy.... :D As Mike says, jus' pokin' the bear, not meaning any harm, all in fun.**)
I don't mind off spelling at all,I read it just fine,my own spelling is often awfull as well,as long as we get our point across its all great and some time a little joke come out of it too.
I hate typing especially text message typing, the #%$@ auto correct often types things that aren't Politically correct! I.E. very imbarassing.
I once typed a message saying yeah I've done that before, but on Face book it corrected to I've done her before, a female coworker who just got married, thank god I caught it, within a few minutes so I could delete the message!**):3dSMILE::eek::eek::eek:
Well I don't look at the screen as I type and sometimes do hit an next door key. I must admit-seems I set a new record for me in such a short post
but did you get the message?
And Roger-some of the aircraft I've flown did have lots of computer stuff, but it actually was always behind the airplane-the a/c had to of deviated from a programmed operation before it could correct itself. A good flight crew was ahead of the plane, not behind it!
Of course you can always book on Asiana, Malasya Air, etc--
Hotdogs n Hotrods
Had to go out for some lunch with Mark an his 32R,so I used my son's 23T. We want too one of our fav. hotdog places thats been sirving up good dogs started back in 1962 n still going,so fitting that we park right up front with the hot rods.
A very cool picture!
great picture. I'd frame it
Yeah cool photo that would of been even better if the people in the white sky scraper had give a bit of thought and parked across the other side of the carpark. Apart from that, I think the building with it's bright colours and signs make such a cool back drop for Hot Rod photo's. Now where is the jerk who parked that white thing as I will knee cap him if he doesn't move it real quick...
Awesome pic. Thanks for sharing it!
Got my 4x2s running, fair but still off my mark a little, but about 100 miles on so far and right front carb is acting up=dribbling,so need to go back in to it.:whacked:
Here is photo from sunday car show up in Srufside about 60 mile round trip.
IIRC cylinders 1 and 2 fire consequetly and probably suck open power valve on that carb-all other adjacient ports don't fire that way----I think it was an issue on the old Fenton dual quad manifolds also
Change positions with that and one of the other carbs to see if its the carb or the location
Thanks for ideas,Jerry. I'm not using any powervalves at all, there blocked off plugs in them, takes off good and runs strong through all gears. But idel is on n off again, sometimes dose OK,others it stalls an lots of drip leaking from RF carb. I lowered the float two times and it dose not feel like it is sinking, but will check all again, shaft is not sloppy,I'll find prob, but haven't yet
Merry Christmas,I got my homemade 4x2 set up working very well now, went to our big Christmas show at City of Miami Springs Fla. Was great weather an nice dolled up cars for Santa.:D
Lookin' good there Bat. And good news on the carbs working right.
The crabs are really working well, feels like + of 50 extra HP,but likely not that much, maybe the very cool sound they make as well when I jump on it now:D:cool:
Very nice! I'm glad to hear the carbs are tuned and it's running great!
Now that is a cool looking " Boat Anchor " Bat and I too is rapt that you got it running in the " sweet spot " .
Art Deco show on South Beach,Miami Beach Fla.
great curves representative of the art deco period, nice car too! ;)
I see the deco, where's the art?
Or perhaps I should comment:
Nice seat covers, but where do you sit?
Now did one of those Lassies happen to pull you a handle ? Beer, with the shifter top and the beer keg, I just wondered.
One time a year we get invited to our local sportscar clubs FARA,races,to show an run a praide lap before there event. So we are not aloud to pass anyone,on the race track an must stay behind the pacecar.;) The trick is to get in the rear to start with, slow down,so coming up on the back straight away we have a big gap between us an cars ahead, then close the gap for max fun. This is closing the gap going into turn 3,running just over 100 MPH+ at Miami Homestead Speedway :D
"Don't try this if your car dose not handel super well" I set up both hotrods,an made my living at designing an building racecars for 50years,beside the hotrods.
Wahoo! Tons of fun!:3dSMILE: Somewhere I have a picture of me and wife in my old C-Cab taking some laps around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1978. We were stuck behind a pace car and told that 60 mph was our max speed. We were also told they had state police radar stationed around the track; anyone caught speeding would be escorted out of the event. I still wonder if they just told us that to keep us in line; I never saw any radar guns... Anyway, it was fun.:D
Hey that turned out very well, like the design. Having the carbs turned back and being able to hear them gobbling air ... priceless
BTW: I like the positive or hard link from the gas peddle to the linkage. That looks like a simple thing, but can be hard to pull off . Cables lack two things, the feel and the stout look of a hard link. thumbs UP!
We're at our fav. pizza place last nite, with hotrods,an a few other guys with nice custom classics. My buddy with his T I helped him built is always joking around an he is deadhard Chevy guy,so even though my races car had SBC,I have't be the Ford guy to add to the banter fun back an forth. He's the one that gave me his cracked set of SBC chrome EX headers, that I cut the flange off of an welded a Y Ford EX flange on by just putting a little gap between the center pipes{ all the rest lines up dead on to the Ford { see header in Post #305} . So doing his Chevy man thing last nite,he tell every one standing around just after I trun off my car, Hear that,"A Ford never sounded so good with Chevy headers !"
My comeback this time was,"Your right they do sound a lot better now then they did on a SBC" Even the other Chevy guys had to LOL a little,I'm out numbered by SBC now days most shows.
I do like the way your roof lays down flat with just those straps to hold it . I am going to copying that idea if you don't mind as here in NZ. we can leave for a run in the morning sun and then have rain in the afternoon so a roof always attached to the car will be a blessing. Your car always looks stunning Dana.
Mark,I had done a tech on my folding top; Hotrod folding top,a how too do it tech | The H.A.M.B.
Let's try it another way

Thanks Steve, I was going to go back and look for a photo of the roof up but you have done it for me. Yes, it does have nice lines and Dana, you have done an absolutely damn nice job on the whole car.
