Bat do you need to tilt the engine in the car. If so, will the carbs no longer be level at that point? Just thinking out loud. I think my engine is at a 4 degree tilt to the fire wall.

I been building all my rods for many years with motors level. Even my old custom was that way. There was a oval racecar I did were I layed motor over for more left side an did recut intake to let carbs site almost strait up,but not all the way.

The attitude of a carbureted motor is dictated by the angle of the intake manifold and the need for legroom in the driver's compartment.

    Thumbs up

Thanks for air cleaner input an I understand the point 100%,but I like the pot's,they do have new filters in side/not screens,I'm not drag racing ,just having fun. Your on the right idea to do, if I was racing it. Motor an carb/carbs later, are level in my rod,but the body is raked. The only time I've ever found any need to not run a motor level is in a custom were I'd need to build a big hump other wise,vs rods I think should not be overly low, they just look like a cartoon if they are too me.

Replied to this to bring picture forward a few pages so everyone could admire the nice roof design, great job! Only picture didn't get included!

I'm new to making stuff like what your doing. I was just curious and angles as I had to deal with my project coming to me with a 12 degree engine angle, fixed now, I have heard up to 4 degrees is o.k.? Anyway I'm enjoying following this thread and learning as you post.

Bat ever tried the Pizza at the NO Name Pub on No Name Key? Used to have radio commercials in the 80's as "the Best Pizza in the Known Universe....If you can find it!" I certainly thought so back then!

Had a bad day,I never broke a crankshaft before, built lots of these "Y"s over the years for racing way back, was coming home from a car show sunday afternoon that was at Good Shepherd Chruch, started vibs ,oil PSI droped to near zero, got out looked but no holes or leaks,so limped on home and pulled it out monday, will take it apart this week. Time to hunt for some more old frozen up "Y-block v8"s for parts,292 or 312s in the $50 to $100 bracket. Looking at mains on my other extra crank is not good ether from spair old motor I just tookapart too check. Bummer Any one in south Fla. got any old "Y"s I can rob for parts cheep
