I got a welder; it'll fit. Seriously, it looks like a direct bolt in if my tape measure is right.

That's a great looking job, Charlie. Looks like that took some serious thinking to make it come out so clean.

Ok, the 49 has been dismantled and disposed of other than several parts I sold, saved to sell, or saved for this project. The only bummer is I'm letting a friend use my spare garage bay for another month so my car is stuck outside in the 100 degree heat for now. So I figured I might as well start on it where it's at for now. I pulled the rearend and springs tonight. The springs are headed to St Louis spring for freshening up and I'm going to start getting the Explorer 8.8 ready for transplant. I think I'll hit the underside with the powerwasher and some POR-15 while I've got access.

Good to see you getting started on the white car, even if it is outside for now!!!! Guess I'm not the only fool having to do things outside this summer----got to get some paint on the house and garage. Worked at it for awhile this morning till about 10AM, then in the garage till it got too hot. Been hiding in the house ever since!

Take it easy out there in all that heat!!!!

Yeah, it's been a brutal summer so far, Dave. All you can do is try and work around the heat cause it doesnt seem to be going away any time soon. I'll bet your house paint is drying quick!

Thanks, guys. Those Explorer rearends are a hard bargain to beat; 8.8 with 3:73 limited slip and disc brakes for $150 from the boneyard and they had a lot of them. If the width is good for you they make a great setup on a busget.

Yep. I got my LS 3.73 Expo 8.8" from the local junkyard. $150. Came out of a '95.. There also 31 spline 8.8's. The Mustang 8.8's that used to be popular are 28 spline.

I got mine without brake parts, but the only parts I would have reused would have been the parking brake hardware. I could have gotten a rear with brake parts for the same price but, I would have had to drive farther, and I would have had to pull it myself.
