for this setup really the two things you need to look at is the cam and the heads, the cam should at least be a little more high performance than the stock cam, even though i prefer a roller setup, and the heads need to be at least for a 4bbl setup, even though edelbrock makes high performance heads that would work much better with it.....i run on my 302 a triple duece setup.... with the carbs, sine you probably wont be running high performance heads, will need to stick around 600-650 cfm, you dont want too powerful of carbs or else you'll just bog your engine, also 1 idea would be to use a quadrajet for your primary carb, that way you save more fuel until you put your foot into it, also an oversize bore and a good ignition will help with handling larger amounts of fuel
