On the engines I build I don't go to "the shed" and put a used timing chain cover on any engine.
Also if you want to run a sbf try using an older block 302 block.
They at least can take a .040 over bore.
The newer 5.0 blocks are nothing but a huge p.o.s.

I'll keep my 302 in my Mustang GT convert, I'll keep my 4.3 in my Blazer(till I move, then pull it, and put it in my wifes T Tudor Sedan, which had Buick V6), and I'll keep my 392 Hemi in my T Coupe, and you do what ever you want to your car, it's yours! I just gave my opinion, and where he could get some money for his motor!

I have no car with a carb, I have injection on everything, except my Trike.

You two sound like a couple of ford guy's that got spanked by a chevy one time, and can't get over it!

Anyone can cut one up, but! only some can put it back together looking cool!
Steel is real, anyone can get a glass one.

Yup, true. But that's waaaaaay too easy!!!!!!

Whatever swap anyone wants to do it doesn't have to be practical, easy, or cheap. Just has to be something they want to do!!!!!! I for one appreciate the unconventional set-ups. The dude who just posted the '40 Ford with the Nailhead in it is an example... Could have been like the majority and bought the bolt on goodies and put in a 350/350---but instead he went with a nailhead and wound up with a unique Hot Rod.... Heck, just do something different once in awhile!!!!

well the guy did not say how much it cost to put that nail in runing shap? i have good grasp on the price$$$ i am doing one now. and yes it is nice not to have the same as every one but the cost of the build can be way over some guys budget .that is why you see so many chevys and they run good and easy to get parts. so if you have to hate this is good place to start

I don't hate seeing sbc's in everything, it just bores me to tears is all!!!! If price and cost were the only consideration, none of us would be doing this stuff anyway!!!!! Besides, how can a guy with a Donovan complain about the price of a sbf???????????

If you think the Ford guys are tough you should try all the guys that run the 6-cylinder Jimmy.
I try and try to explain to them that GMC is part of General Motors but I might as well be speaking Chineese.
