    292 picture

I am not sure this is the right spot, put wanted to see if I could post a picture of my motor taken 2 years ago. It is a 1956 292. Since the shot quite a bit of change has occurred with the engine and truck.

Nice and clean engine bay, I like it! I had a chance at buying a '56 with a 292 that had a spun bearing. The truck was a basket case and all I saw was work. However, I ended up buying a '53 and did a frameoff anyway. I should have gone with the '56, the frameoff was there already, I was just too young to realise it.

    292 and 46

Since the picture was taken the motor has an aluminum 4v intake, aluminum timing cover, changed the valve covers to chrome units, electric fan, PCV, chrome oil filter cover, and there is an aluminum water pump I havent put on yet.
The front sheet metal is all on except for the hood. But the motor bay is still cluterless, except for that distributor. There is so little room back there I am having a bad time trying to arrange the plug wires.

Yes, I can see how it looks all squished back there. Have you thought about notching the firewall a little bit around the distributer to give you more room? or is the interior and paint all good to go?

Yes that needs to be done, but I want to get this thing on the road first. Waiting for two new front wheels to match new bolt pattern, and then need to have a drive shaft made, and it should be roadworthy.

Thanks for the compliments you guys. I was hesitant to put it up with so many fine pieces of iron on this forum.

I'm self conscious about alot of my ideas, but it's all about what you like and want, not what others like. That's Hot Rodding!

Great looking Y! I particularly like the smoothed cabover truck exhaust manifolds, very hard to find and very efficient.

Very nice. I am in the process of rebuilding a '59' 292 from my Galaxie. Where are you getting aftermarket parts? Thanks

Great looking Y block. Real nice detailing.
Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!
