If you can get it to idel as low or lower then the stock auto it cam out of,it will work OK as is,only if you can not do that and your idel is up there above the stock stall,do you need a new converter

no not all your missing some things it has to do with how much Torque the engine make s @ low rpm and weight and gear size . tire size .. cam .. cr.. engines size ... cfm,,,,intake ..... if it can idle in gear with out pulling or stalling with foot on the brake all play s on to it so BLaa Blaa back at you
