cylinder heads have a D2TE-AA , on the drivers side in front where it usually says 352 on a fe block it has has a reversed 501, also bolts on the intake and cylinder heads say 53187, does any one have a clue what this motor is because I have had a heck of a time identifying it

Here's some more questions for ya: What kind of '74 Ford? Is the engine original to the vehicle?

Heads This site says the heads are from a 360 or 390 FE with hardened valve seats. That would also mean it must be an FE engine. You'll have to measure the stroke to determine which it is.

Also the "D2" suggests '72 for the year of the heads but I don't know if they still used the same number for other years.
