This engine is in my truck and its a all stock 2 barrel engine. I am stepping up to a 4 barrel, aluminum intake, better cam and associated parts...I also have the Crane XRi drop in ignition for the distributor...

This is the Edelbrock 2105 intake...

The cam is a Edelbrock 2106...

The carb will be a 600 CFM Holley 80457...

 My questions are these...

What valve springs should I run and with that cam...I as thinking maybe these?

These are the 1.76 rocker arms I want to run on the engine, will they work?

Always use the spring specified by the cam grinder. Edelbrock specs either of these springs for use with that cam.

I could be wrong, but I believe those needle bearing rockers have to run on a hardened shaft. Here's the whole kit....

That Edelbrock 2105 is what my buddy used to call a "weak suck operation". Step up to a high-rise Edelbrock RPM or Weiand Stealth. You should pick up 30-40 horsepower over the low-rise model.

The Weiand Stealth #7282 for the FE motor may have been discontinued, but should be available used on ebay or craigslist.Last edited by techinspector1; 12-21-2010 at 05:23 PM.

After talking to Edelbrock, they OKed the cam and spring combo I am going to run and they told me to not run a bigger intake than what I have cause its "matched" to that cam and will work good with the carb also...I am planning to use ProComp's rocker arm/shaft combo with a new set of pushrods...I am using that intake and carb because I got both used for less than what my intake costs new...If I was buying new it might be different but I have only found 3 used aluminum FE intakes in the state of Florida and one of them I now have...And all 3 were the same...I went to the Turkey Run in Daytona last month and the only thing people had was CJ stuff and I'm not paying out the butt for a factory part...This is the updated list of stuff I have or am getting for the engine...

the Edelbrock RPM is only $45 more and is pretty much one of the top intakes for this engine.

The standard Performer 2105 intake won't do much for you, actually an Edelbrock Streetmaster is probably the best all around choice for a 390 FE for your purpose, your cam selection is also a little too conservative for a 390 as is a 600 CFM carb which would be better served on a SBF Windsor Check out www.summitracing.com and run these part numbers in search: Howard 250031-12 and Holley 65-3310S this should produce a stout low end and mid-range,this Holley also has the Ford kickdown.Last edited by JeffB2; 12-23-2010 at 09:26 PM.
