C8VE (1968), C9VE (1969), D0VE-A, and D0VE-C (1970) heads are all essentially the same cylinder head configuration. The D0VE-C castings are simply the most common and also the easiest to identify/remember since they are known as "dove" heads. Frankly, you could bolt a C8VE head on one cylinder bank and a D0VE-C head on the other cylinder bank and your engine won't know the difference.

There is one detail about the D0VE heads (A & C) that you need to look for: The 1970 heads were available with or without Thermactor passages, meaning that the heads may or may not be drilled for the smog pump. C8VE and C9VE heads are never drilled.
