Did you get the cam timing marks right when installing the cam?
If so, then make sure the distributor rotor is pointing to #1 spark plug at TDC compression #1.
Make sure you have wired the rotation correctly on the dist. cap..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.
