    General exhaust question.....

     



    On a typical street motor, 300 hp with a single exhaust, much like a LS1 Camaro ( I use this car JUST as an example so the reader can get an idea of the original exhaust layout ).

    When going from a 2 1/2" single exhaust to a 2 1/2" true dual exhaust, just how important is mandrel bent pipe over regular muffler shop pipe bends??

    Personally I feel that on such a low HP motor it's not that big of a difference to justify the added cost.

    Probably little if any difference on a low horse application. I just hate the looks of exhaust with the gimpy looking exhaust pipe bender bends in them. More work and more expense for mandrel bent tubes, but I still prefer them.....

    you probably wouldn't even notice.... depending on the exact application of your motor and rpm ranges and such... you could actually lose HP by going to a dual exhaust... such as new F-150s, people put a dual exhaust on them and actually drop about 15HP but you can keep it a single and just change the muffler and gaint about 5HP
    just because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

    i would go with mandrel if you can, it might not make a huge diffrence now but you may be kicking your self later if you decide to up the horsepower. just my 2 cents.
