    backfire won't start?

     



    1973 Chevy 250 inline 6 165 hp. Been sitting for 2 years and was running good at that time. Getting fuel and fire.Just wants to Backfire through carb. Will not start.some black smoke out the exhaust.

    how old is the fuel? Probably backfiring because of rust and crud on intake valve. I'd change plugs get fresh gas put some oil in cylinders .....been sitting 40 years your lucky to get backfire.

    It's been sitting 2 years, used new fuel.white smoke out the exhaust.Also new cap and rotor and points.

    problem solved, plugs wires off by one.
