    305 gaskets?

hi all, am just partaking in another project, 1974 reliant scimitar, ive got a "91" 305 tbi motor which i want to fit, running it on a 4 barrel with a weiand 144 little blower, i ve got the heads off , so rather than put the thin steel shim head gasket on , can i use one s off of the earlier motor,s, (pre 87)? will the inlet gasket also fit , i realise the valve cover gasket,s are different, the 305 tbi head gasket set is about 3 times the price over here,(uk), and i,m not going to need some of the gaskets in the tbi set, many thanks, mike,

Mike, Don't know if this would work for you, or even if it's a good solution BUT!!

Since the parts are so pricey there in the UK what if someone over here bought the parts for you HERE and then shipped them to you? As I said don't have a clue if this is a workable thing, but it might be worth looking into as to the price of the part here in the US and then shipping them to you in the UK.

i could do that , roland, but i,d still like to know if the earlier ones would fit and whats the difference between the pre 87 and post 87 head sets, other than the valve cover gaskets on the tbi, mike.

about the worst finsh of any engine is the 90s chevy V8s i stock form. i mill many heads and all rebuilds get a deck job some of the deck finsh is so bad its like a saw tooth .will work the fire rings till they blow or leak you need a good head gasket if your boosting .a gasket felpro MLS or cometic or the felpro steel plate o ring com like the f1094 or a SCE titan s11064 $$$ but may be your best bet if the deck has not been milled you can get a long mill file and cross file the deck till smooth to .do not use the 3m rollock fiber wheels them will make the deck worst then stock deck gaskets are the same up till the ls
