adjusting a roller rocker shaft assy

having problems with a roller rocker shaft assy had to put 300 thou of spacers under the shaft assy to bring it up high enough to get proper center roller contact on the valve plus also this also works with the proper pushrod length. Is shimming a adjustable rocker assy 300 thou excessive cause it seems to be for me. its not like there are a lot of bolts holding this assy together 4 7/16 bolts only
I think i am doing this right as the rocker roller on valve should be centered first before one starts looking at pushrod length.
someone smarter than me(not a tough thing to do) can maybe explain this.

at rest the roller should not be in the center of valve stem only at mild lift . sounds like push rods are to long . do you have two adjustable checking push s rods ? you will only know the right length by check the mild lift i ruff it in with the checker T&D or jesel have one in there kits with out one then you have to eye ball it then fine tune it in till mid lift is right

i have my home made pushrod length checker and had everything snugged down and in line but it shows at zero lash and lifter at bottom of the travel a pushrod length of only 9 1/2 inches over a half inch less than annything i have but the rocker angle is crappy way down towards the center ,plus the roller end is just on the edge of the inner valve. Looks totaly weird and way to severe.

Did the rocker assy come with the shims you need for raising the height??? If not, you should be talking to them to clarify what the problem is---

Lots of rocker shaft assy come with shims for different heigth valve geometry---

no they didnt come with anything, i will be on the phone tomorrow am to have a chat with them. they really dont look like they are actually made to be raised, they have a bottom plate that runs the full width of the head and the rail is also attached to that, but like i said ,when they are where they appear they are supposed to be,the rocker angle is so severe and the roller is way too close to the edge. i hope the head base isnt machined too low

yep that or a very long valve in the head. wrong push rods they sent you ? the adjuster out to far on the rocker arms .i like to use a 210 pushrod tip .i check push rods with test springs .base cricle will throw things off push rods for a 700 lift cam can not be the same as a 600 lift cam . can be alot of small things that add up to a big thing but over 1/4 shim sounds abit off . that cam hyd ? roller ? solid? how are you checking mild lift with a hyd lifter you have to watch this you can push the valving down in the pushrod

went out this am and looked at all again plus also the old heads as rocker assembly is to fit both. the mounting base on the new heads is about 5/16ths lower than stock and when i take a good close look the roller does not even contact the valve as its so low the side of the rocker actualy hits the spring cap 1st. they fit and look correct on the stock heads, valvepring height also measures close to equal from old to new heads.
