I like your first choice the of Extreme Energy cam.
You might notice a little sound out the exhaust.
It should start to pull hard by 1,800 rpm's to about 6,000.
I.M.O., a 305 with this cam you are right on the border of using a stock torque converter or using a 2,000 stall.
I have not worked with a car this light weight.
Other t-bucket owners might have a better idea.

I don't have the expeience Eric has but I think he is right on. Make sure your 305 breathes freely everywhere.

I have one size smaller in the Extreme Energy installed in my 305,but its in a heavy truck with 4.11 gears.
You should be fine in that light bucket.
I actually had that cam you list purchased for my truck ,but backed down one size to the EX262 and installed rhoades lifters for more low end torque.
    .
Its gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)
