    They should be redone after warm up always, It also makes a difference on how much readjusting is nessacary depending on, hydrolic or solid lifters, stamped steel or roller rockers, aluminum or iron heads. They all react differently to heat depending on the combo you use.

    Hey, I don’t want to steal anyone’s thread but what you guys are talking about could have been my problem. 350 engine four barrel 350 auto trans. I had to replace a head, when I did all that I read like Rugratman, I rotated until I felt it getting snug then the ½ turn extra. When I got it put back together it fired right away I was happy as a lark. This was in a 4x4 snowplow after awhile the truck would hardly run. If I’m hearing correct I could have had the adjustment too tight. I kept messing with the timing and finally gave up.
