Cam Question / Help
Needs some opinions. I just got my 355 together put on test stand to run it. It's comp xe 268 cam hydraulic. Would not stay running stoped to see what was up. Stupid me forgot put plug in intake were 3/8 line goes for brakes. Fired it up went thru procedure of breaking in new cam. The rockers towards end started rattle little bit. Today pulled valve covers off their were 7 rockers loose [no metal in oil]. Readjusted all rockers while running. It was quiet , smooth run fine left it run little bit to see if start making noise , everything was fine. I took every precaution including comp oil additive. Question is is cam on it's way out.

well you may of miss that one every one will tell you how to just them and there way is the best . so i will not post my way on here.. any way how you do them. i all way ajust them before i put the intake down and go thru them 2 times if hyd cam to check them and if a solid cam 3 times i go thru them it take time doing them. look at the top of the nut see if the threads are about the same as the other if the nut is down more some thing could be going badLast edited by pat mccarthy; 02-27-2008 at 04:52 PM.

In my opinion, it'll be fine. It was probably just everything settling in, lifters adjusting themselves, etc. How much spring pressure was going over the nose of the cam? (valve fully open).

first off read the instructions that came with your cam. it'll tell you the valve lash adjustment. but usually you set it to 0 lash ( with no slop between the rocker arm and lifter plunger in the push rod and not pushing the plunger in) then you set your lash at 1/2 a turn or 3/4 or even 1 turn down on the rocker nut after you had the valve lash set to 0. but it should tell you in the cam instructions to set it at 1/2 3/4 or 1 turn down. i set my valve lash before i put the intake on.Derek Doble

Cam Help
My mistake was setting 0 - lash with intake off. What I did [after broke cam in] turn nuts down on ones were making noise , then started re-adjusting all rockers. I back off till started make noise then slowly tighten nut till quiet went another half turn. Engine run fine.
