    Chevy 350ci into Pontiac- HELP

    Hi guys,
I'm trying to put a Chevy 350ci in a 1979 Firebird originally a V8 301ci car. Does the Pontaic have different motor mounts on the frame and/or engine?

It looks like the chevy uses a diff. spot for the motor mounts on the car frame. The engine just will not drop in- it seems to far forward, even when the trans dipstick is on the firewall, relative to the engine mounts on the frame. I have the factory Firebird engine mounts on the frame and the factory Chevy mounts on the engine. Any help is VERY MUCH appreciated. I already rented the engine hoist....
