They are called a rear sump, Jeff. But the pan also has to be deep enough in the front to clear the oil pump. Still a lot deeper pan in the front then a BBC by at least 2"..... A ford motor would require some surgery on the elky crossmember to fit. Heck can't even get a 460 to fit in a Crown Vic that was made for a rear sump 302 engine because of the added depth on the front of a 460 pan...... I have a 460 rear sump pan on the 460 I'm test fitting in the Ranchero, with 1" between the bottom of the pan and the front crossmember, it is still 8" from the pan rail to the crossmember.......Originally posted by junkyardjeff
Trucks and vans with 460s have rear sump pans so putting the 460 might work but the mounts will be the hard part,I say go for it. Jeff
Anything can be made to fit anything, but the original post was asking for info on an adpater that would allow the 460 to be bolted in.Last edited by Dave Severson; 03-05-2006 at 10:00 PM.
