You would either have to move the firewall back or replace the crossmember, the front pump and sump 460 will land right on top of it!!!!! The front of the pan on a 460 is either 7 or 8 inches deep, the front of the chebbie pan is maybe 4" deep and on the chevelles and elkies the bbc pan clears the crossmember by about 1".....Originally posted by thesals
you can use a set of universal motor mounts, run a ford tranny, or a t-5 conversion with the ford bellhousing... its very possible... would be a lotta work tho.... probably fit easier than a chevy big block since the distributor is in the front, give you just a tad more firewall clearance... also you're gonna have to do a LOT of suspension work when you put that big ol heavy engine in there....Last edited by Dave Severson; 03-03-2006 at 10:32 AM.
