    Adding Acetone to Fuel....???

Yesterday a friend in Arizona sent me an article about adding small amounts of acetone to gasoline or diesel to improve vaporization. Sounds interesting, but I'm well aware of how strong acetone is, and how it attacks many materials. Here's a link to the webpage, see what you think...........www.PureEnergySystems.com. Scroll way down to Tier 3 - Acetone as a Fuel Additive.

Yeah, it vaporizes. The acetone will likely vaporize out of your fuel so quickly you wont notice any difference.

I used a lot of acetone - and hated it - while covering my airplane with Dacron fabric. I'm well aware of its' properties. Gasoline evaporates quickly, too - but not from a sealed tank.

Did you read the article ??

I have tried using the acetone in my fuel a few months back. I didn't see the milage increases the article I read had stated. I did notice my car had a slightly better idle and throttle response but the milage increases just weren't there.

Its all in ratio 73RS. If you over do it, then you will see an ineffective burn, thus causing the computer to compensate. I tried this in the Eagle this last week. 2.5oz to 10 gallons. Runs a lot cleaner, but i only saw a very slight mileage gain. Then again, im still running a carb, so that may be a factor. It may have just cleaned it a lot

    acetone and water

this goes back quite a few years, but i believe acetone was used to mix condensed water in fuel to get it to burn (cosolvent much like methanol), also raising the octane rating. unfortunately, maybe it screwed up pistons in the process

Hmmm...... I'd heard of them mixing alcohol and water to spray into the superchargers on WWII fighters, but hadn't heard about adding acetone to the mix. From what I've been reading, it might've been a benefit, tho'.
When they phased out super leaded gas about 25 years ago, I tried water injection on my high compression Bronco and it worked very well. Extremely well, in fact, but it were a bear to keep clean and functioning. Severe detonation would happen instantly when the water stopped.
