I'm working on my '67...needs a trans.
Damn...no wonder this thread died quick...no posts since yesterday???
Three days...no El Camino talk...WTF??? Over...
Well I'm gonna go ahead and talk to myself sunce I'm the only one who checks in on this thread again...so...
I put in some new coil springs in the Camino. Once the $ flows a bit better I may go coilovers...But for now it's springs and shocks all around. I charged up the battery and the power came on. Lights radio and such...Hopefully next week I'll put the flywheel back on, have a new radiator and a tune up. Now if i can ony find a damn tranny!!! One's coming soon...I can smell it!!! Here are some pics from yesterday.
Damn, that's why they stopped producing El camino's...couldn't keep anyone interested I guess. Damn Shame.
New to the site here. I am doing a 76 El I picked up a couple of yrs ago in Idaho.
Was in pretty rough shape, I have been doing the bondo treatment and am almost ready to paint. I have never done body work before. This has been a real challange. But it is looking pretty good so far. I rebuilt the 4oo sbc in it. b ored .30 with a mild cam and beefed up heads. Flat piston, I think I am pretty close to 10 to 1 compression. Runs really great, also did the 350 turbo tranny, must have done it right as it really goes good, put in a shift kit at the same time. My son has helped me some but keeps complaining I never let him help . He seemed to want to sleep too much ha ha. He took it for a spin and punched it down a little, said it was really nice. Made me feel good , glad it runs and didn't blow up. It has been 25 yrs since I built an engine. Was nice to get my feet wet again.
I sent you an email about transmission needsQuote:
