I think Hurst marketed the first Line Loc, a solenoid arrangement to hold pressure in the front brake lines for doing burnouts and/or to prevent rolling out of the beams at the line.

More serious racers with higher stall converters use a transmission brake that locks the transmission in 2 gears at the same time while the motor is revved up against the converter for launch.
