Mocking up the steering #1. I used a shaft from a junk column and a scab steering wheel of the correct diamiter. The wood block works like a bearing. At the floor end of the shaft I fixed a pin in the hole. Then I drilled a hole the size of the pin where I thought the column would pass through the firewall. The hole turned out to be right where I wanted it. But if I had made a mistake it would have been easy to fill.
