Two things Don (I read your post on the other site);
1). You have a Lady that loves you as much as you love her!
2). When you finish your magic the roadster it will be PERFECT!
Good luck, and prayers for your wife's speedy recovery!
Top and frame color suggests you might go blue.
Or would you paint the frame and go for something else?
I give the rear tires about a two day life span before you change them. :HMMM:
Very nice and I'm sure you will take the ugly out of it smartly. Is that paint on the top in the first photo or light from the open door shinning on the car making it look like paint on the top ? I agree with the wheels but I hope you do your magic on the exhaust also. I note too that it already has fog lights down low so you don't have to worry about that either.
Mark, No paint yet, and yep the exhaust will get re-done, also gonna change out a few other things
A little progress : Body work done, hood fitting done and in prime,
Grille shell prepped and grill painted.
Rec'd tires and wheels 2day.
A little more prep and into the booth it goes for Indigo Blue Pearl and clear.
Probably over the weekend if not Monday 4 sure.
Don, a question on the grille insert. Was it polished stainless or chrome, and did you do anything but hit it with a scuff pad & epoxy prime before color? I know that painting chrome can yield rock chips and a crappy look down the road if not done right.
I also like those curved gussets on the interior corners to support the interior panel. I may have to copy that feature....;):):)
Roger, Polished SS. First I back tape the surround trim then I scratch the grill bars with 150 grit, then shoot dtm primer mixed HOT, let it flash, then slam the color on
Here ya go Roger, the wheels will B RED also, and a little RED Pinstriping
Thanks Don. So once the shell is blue the "look" will be blue, polished SS trim ring, red bars, right? Gonna be sweet, for sure! Do you hit the front of your radiator with a light shot of black epoxy primer to blank it out, or leave it alone?
Def black out the rad.
Don, great work and another nice find! You sure have a knack for these to say the least!
Thanx 4 the kudos Ryan
The squirtin has begun
Looks good Don!
I really like that color!
That looks superb! I think I may have to look into SPI when I paint the 40.
Have to slap mine in with the palm of my hand. That's how they should fit in a steel shell. A little vaseline helps also.
Awesome colour and just the right amount of flake I believe. What grade have you used in those slops Don ? I'm liking that '32 already and isn't amazing just what a coat of paint can do to a car.
Grade in slops ????????????????
Black sealer down -check
3 coats of base down - check
wait 2 hrs and slam on the SPI clear - waitin
I'm looking forward to seeing this one put back together and out in the sun. Love the color!
5 coats of SPI Clear on, (mixed 2 much) so what the heck,
slam it on.
Looks Great!
That looks so noce! You do great work!
Sorry Don, I've been hanging out with my Auto Painter mate too long. He calls paint slops and when he gives me a hard time about my panelbeating I return the favour calling his skill with a 4" or a 6" paintbrush to apply his slops pretty good if he could just master the brush stroke going all the same way. He painted a car for me once and when I asked him what the paint code / colour was, his reply was left over shregs, slops with a wee bit of dust added mixed with a good doze of beer. So I have just got into the habit of calling paint slops. :D
You do some beautiful work! And that is coming out of a garage, not a spray booth! WOW!
Looking kool,Don..Love the color.. It suits it just fine..Nice job..
A home made booth in my 3200 sq ft shop to be exact. Biggest trick to get a great paint job is clean the area yer squirtin in, clean da car, clean yerself, good lighting, good exhaust, clean air intake and patience pullin the trigger. Did I mention get everything CLEAN?
Shot in hi $$$ booths for years, it's all the same. CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN will get ya great results. Knowing how to pull the trigger helps also.
Goin back 2gether
nice work, don't know how you can find these gems in the rough and turn them into diamonds thanks for sharing
That does look much better Don!!! Great color combination.
New shoes & dash in
Lights and hood on, ready 4 the trim shop
Very nice Don!
Much nicer!!!!
