I talked to H&H in Pleasanton a few weeks back. Their basic stock flathead was $6500 turnkey, and the polished model with a supercharger and dual carbs was $14,500 so I would think that you might get a nice old school flatty with a cam, a bit more compression and a brace of carbs for Don's $10K. Based on where I am today with a glass N&N body and premium roller I wouldn't argue with his $65K piggy bank for a steel body. Then you get to decide what to farm out, and what you can do yourself.Quote:

I built a wescott coupe and have no complaints at all. I wanted the cowl vent and door hinges plus the roll down rear window. It is a first class body right out of the mold. Yeah they are high $$ but its all in what you want. If I ever build another 32 coupe I will look very serious at a brookville chopped and filled roof from Waldens, but its back to that $$$ thing again. There are a lot of bodys on the market. Do a lot of looking and asking questions. Right now you can buy cheaper than building if you can find something close to what you want. Oh yeah I have a friend that has a gibbons that came from south carolina, saying that he had problems with it is being kind. After splitting the floor to even get it on the frame you get the idea, ITS JUNK............
My friend sent Gibbon 5 grand for a 34 3 window body and got nothing. I think he is out the money.

Has anyone seen a Redneck body lately? I was checking that out, about $12+, but the stock height looks different.

Yep they are still sellin and they ain't gonna budge off the price unless yer a dealer, which ain't a lot.
If yer budget is gettin in a squeeze now and haven't even started, your in for a rude awakening.

If you 'hit' Brookville at an NSRA or Goodguys show, they will quite often discount anything they have with them so they don't have to take it home. Other then that, a friendly shop owner might be able to come up with an appropriate price if you end up buying lots more parts from him. My '31 Brookville had a bunch of bucks off list - no shipping or crating charges and a couple of other options were priced right. Much of the rest of the car did come from my dealer so he made out otherwise. I did pay a price on quality though as body and paint prep went on forever. If you are an accomplished body man, then not a big deal.
Oh yeah - the final cost - gasp, gag!! In my case about 2x what I thought it would be and if I were to do it again, probably could do it within a time and dollar budget as my past vertical learning curve - it's now closer to flat/horizontal:LOL::LOL:
Just when I think I have it all figured out, someone throws a fly in my ointment.
That's what I am finding about the Brookville. I have restored quite a few Vette's and for me, fiberglass is 10 times easier to work with than steel.
I have been reading some other post's and found these guys, New Age Motorsports, that do a chopped 5 window, which is really growing on me. I just need to find more pics of the style I plan to do.
Also, I am finding the additional bodywork that people have had to do is minimal on the Redneck's, Wescott's and also the New Age.
