Back in Febuary of 1992 I was at Universal Studios in Florida and they had (2) 32 coupes there that looked the same as the movie car, 1. was in a compound in the middle of the studio with the old props from Jaws and some other movies, it was in very bad shape, there was also a second car at a Mel's diner that was set up,, there was also a black 1957 Chev there beside the coupe at Mel's
Does anybody know what happened to these cars?

I saw your twin this morning on the way in to work. Nearly identical, sitting in one of our local hot rodders yards. He's been a buy and swap kind of guy since I've known him. I'll say.....its not near as sweet as yours! His 32 has seen a lot of road use without baths. LOL's.

I have NEVER wanted to copy someone elses car or try to duplicate/clone a " movie car ". I always built my own stuff to look like what I like ... but I must commend you on your dedication ...

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all of your positive feedback on my project!!! At the present time I am waiting on a few things to come in and when I get them things will really start rolling with this project
. When all of this happends expect a lot more photos!!!! In the mean time I figured I would share a little something with all of you. Back last year when I went to vist Steve Fitch I got the ORIGINAL front wire looms that were on the coupe during the filming of American Graffiti
!!!!! Enclosed is a picture of the original wire looms and a couple of bolts that actually came off the original coupe too. I believe these bolts were used to mount the grill shell but that is just a guess at this point. Anyway these parts will be on my coupe! I also added a couple of photos (from the early Street Rodder Magazine) showing the front wire looms on the coupe. Anyway, I just thought you might all get a kick out of this??? Just so you all know, I was on top of the Word that day I got the parts!!! In fact, that day I went to Steve's house was my 39th B-Day so I think that B-Day is going to be hard to top!!! But then again you never know

Drip Rails
OK, I have gotten a lot of emails stating that a lot of you guys are wanting to see the drip rails on the New Age Motorsports Body since you can't really see them that well in the pictures I have posted. So below are some photos of the functional drip rails. SORRY, but these drip rails are very hard to photograph as I keep getting glares from the paint (now you know why I don't take pictures for a living) but I think can make them out pretty well.

I know the wheels on the car are 14" Reversed.... Would you know the backspacing on them?
-

Hey Newbomb Turk,
You are correct, the wheels are 14's but here is a little bit more info for you. The wheels are 14x6 (on all four corners of the coupe) with a 5 on 4 3/4 bolt pattern. The back space is 2 1/2 inches but you can get away with using a 3 inch back spacing. The wheels are chevy OEM wheels that have just been reversed. As for the coupe using chevy bolt patterns on all four corners of the car, the front two wheels use a wheel adaptor to bolt to the 1940 Ford drums.

Black Firewall & Green 1/4 Windows
Hey Guys,
Sorry for taking so long to get these photos updated but life does not always go as planned especially when building a hot rod. This summer here in Kansas has been a REAL CRAZY one
It seems that all the weather wants to do is rain (very bizarre for July) or worse yet thunder storms! This makes it very hard for me to get any work on the hot rod as most of my work has to be done outside due to a lack of room in my garage
. Well anyway here are a few pictures of the coupe now with both 1/4 windows installed. I hope you guys can see the green tint as it took me forever to find this stuff and yes, Milner's 1/4 windows are green. I also painted (rattle canned) the firewall black (semi gloss). I really didn't send much time on this as most of the firewall will not be seen due to firewall insert, Cal Custom goodies and engine but I still wanted it to kinda look as though it had been around for a few years. Next week I am hoping to get the frame work finished and the body sitting on the chassis. I should have pictures of this as I am moving the frame and body to my buddies shop (has plasma cutter) if the weather holds out. Hope you all enjoy the photos!!

Hey Guys,
I thought I might better clear some things up here real quick before I start getting a lot of emails. The BLACK PODS you see around the 1/4 windows and rear window are made of fiberglass. The stock window garnish moldings srew into it using the stock screw kit from Mac's Auto Parts. These PODS were on the old NAM bodies (which I have) and are NO LONGER being used on their NEW BODIES!!! NAM is now using the STOCK WOOD around ALL the WINDOWS. This makes for a better fit with garnish moldings PLUS it just looks a lot better!!! Ed always hated this design around the windows so he finally decided to change it. While Ed was at it he changed the bottom of the front floor too! Now the coupe has a stock wood look to it (notice the rear floor X-Bracing as it is just like stock)! Once again mine does not have these VERY KOOL options (except the X-Bracing in the rear floor). Anyway I just figured I better clear this up as not to cause any confusion. (SEE NEW NAM BODY PHOTOS BELOW TO SEE WHAT I AM RAMBLING ABOUT)

Hi Project & all !! I'm a former drag racer, who is now worn out. Getting some years on me, and now just wanting a rod - cruising machine. I am virgin to the classic rod scene, so this will be a first, and probably last. I have made the decision to do a Duece, and have found this thread to be a GREAT help. Now seeing ya'll got a heck of a lead on me, I was wondering, should I build my own frame, or would I be better off buying one?? Again thanks for all input.
Rick

Geez, that thing is gonna be so sweet !! My wife and I took our first step today on our road to Deuce ownership. We did the drag race scene years ago, but I guess with age you move on to the cruisers. By the way Project THX, it's because of this thread she agreed to do it. We had seen some really not so good examples around this area of "Rushed Together" coupes that really didn't interest her at all. When she viewed the pics on this thread, she got into the idea. So, I guess I owe you a beer !!Last edited by Weasel Diesel; 07-23-2009 at 04:30 PM.
