No, he's right, it probably isn't original, and you wouldn't want it to be. They are great for a stock 32, but for a hot rod an aftermarket spring is better suited, and it is newer.

Don't get too hung up on if your car has original '32 parts or not. Most rods aren't and don't really need to be. Someone has used an original frame, and you are seeing the consequences of that in the cracking you mentioned earlier. 73 year old steel can only take so much abuse before you start seeing fatique.

I am reading into this that you somehow think it makes you rod more cool if original 32 parts were used, and I don't think that is necessarily true. In most cases aftermarket parts make it more dependable with a better ride.
