You mean the clearance has already been fixed? I am not even sure that chip has anything to do with that, but I'll check and ask my specialist to check into it when I take the rod back in next week. thanks for pointing it out!

As far as old parts and new parts, I have always been partial to original cars and car parts, but I know sometimes new, improved parts are a better and safer way to go. I guess the secret is knowing what should stay and what should go. I am still learning... I personally am into primer rat rods more than into shinny perfect looking show cars, although both are lovely, I think most people tend to lean towards one or the other... I used to love show cars and hated rat rods and found them "ugly". Now I find myself loving the rat rods and the new looking modern roadster seem to no longer attract me... I guess rat rods are an acquired taste It is always funny to see the reaction of people when they see my car. I get one of the two:

REACTION ONE (people who love rat rods) - "You're not going to paint it, are you?"

REACTION TWO (people who love show cars) - "You're going to paint it, right?"

This one is the best comment yet. I am not sure who felt more insulted: My car, or me LOL: This older dude walks up to me at Rickie and Ronnie's cruise night last friday and point blank tells me: "When are you going to spend a couple buck and get a paint job?" My answer was short: "When I want one" . Regretably I had forgotten my chainsaw at home, so he walked away with his head still attached to his body
