If your still using a 283 you wont need anything bigger than a 600 cfm carb even if you go with the camel back heads. I would go with the performer air gap intake with a performer 1405 edelbrock carb. That intake gave me 6 hp and 4 lbs of torque over the reg performer intake, the cost is about the same.
