Yep, WD-40 will cause rust problems if left on anything for very long. It seems to attract moisture rather than repel it. Is good for lubricateing periodically but not for storage. Used it on many crankshafts on a rack after polishing and they all rusted in time and had to be redone. Light oil is better for that long time storage or a spray type moly lube.Dave H.
