350 gurus, attn, need skilled advice
ok i have an engine i thought was somthing special and its not, im looking for the cheapest but best setup to get together for a chevy s10, i have a complete block and heads and i also have a assembled set of heads from a 305, heres the info:
block:
casting i have is 3970010
partial vin i assume is 18s300861
also found on block:
vo607chc

f 6 8

going from the stamp on front of engine to get V0607CHC makes it a flint june 7th

and going by the casting on driver rear bellhousing flange 3970010 which is closest so far, i have searched quite a bit but cant find a 3978010 or 3970910 etc

btw it is a 2 bolt main
crank is 3932442
dipsticks on the drvr side
looked up the crank: 1969-85 3932442 305,350 cast large two in 1979-82 267

i emailed mortec.com here is what they said:
The block casting number is 3970010.
Yours is a 1978 model 350/170hp originally installed in a Camaro with a
T-350 and a four barrel Quadrajet carb.
The 1971 model low performance heads have been swapped on to this motor.

so, what to do? what to do?
".......So sanded it all down and resprayed. ......" Been there. done that on a couple of paint jobs over the years. Usually took me a couple of days to get over being mad before I started...
