Unconnected White Wire on Ignition Coil

This is for a 1991 Chevy G10 Van. The van originally came with a 5.0L (305cu.in.), but the engine was swapped to a 5.7L (350cu.in.) before I bought it.

Here is a picture of the coil:

The coil has two connectors connected to the top of it. Each connector has a white and pink wire. The white and pink wire coming from the first connector go to the distributor. The pink wire from the second connector goes into the wiring harness. As you can see from the picture the white wire coming from the second connector isn't connected to anything.

So I'm wondering if this should be connected to something.

The van runs fine. This may be a case of if it's not broke don't fix it. Still, when there are wires just hanging around not connected to anything, I really like to know where they should be connected to.

I've looked all around the area and I can't find any other unconnected leads. I have the Haynes manual, and I've looked at all the wiring diagrams and I can't find the ignition coil on any of them.

Does anyone know where this wire should go, or if I should be concerned?

Or does anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram for this vehicle?

Back in those years there was a wire that you had to disconnect while setting base timing----then hooked up and ecm would control timing afterwards--

My data says white is not used. And that wiring diagram can be found listed with engine performance.File (529x640).jpg

MSD streetfire ignition/ no fire ????

I've been running this msd streetfire hei distributor and streetfire ignition box for about 6 months with no problems on my 383 stroker..then with no warning I was warming it up and it just died like I cut the key off.. I jumped the purple and green wire and the light on the box blinks but no fire through the distributor.. I don't know if it's the coil or the box itself ? I checked all the wiring and everything seems to ne in order. Someone said it could be a ground but I have a ground wire from the battery to the core support AMD from the battery to the engine, and engine to frame. It's getting a constant 12 volts, and I'm running a red top optima battery....

I have had the issue of that in the past it was my ignition pickup in the distributor not giving a signal to fire the plugs.
