A stroker BBC or a blown SBC is a bit like looking at a pretty girl & trying to decide whats the best part of the view.

Both can and will get you excited. But not as excited as a blown BBC. (thats the girl with the real long legs)

You havent said what the engine is going into, but if you have the room, and can stretch to it, a blown stroked BBC is a mighty fine way to go. Ive got 540 cubes and a 671 in street T bucket and I cant imagine downsizing to a blown SBC.

But I didnt enjoy driving the bucket when I had a tunnel rammed 454 in it. Was a strong motor but lacked the low down grunt of the blower motor.

But back to your question, for a street motor you want torque so I would change the pistons on your 406, put in a 113 lobe separation roller cam and put a 671 on top with a couple of Edelbrock 750s.

Trust me, once you have had a blown engine, nothing else compares, and they scream hot rod. Sure, a pair of turbos may get you to 1000hp, but unless its a Gale Banks setup, it wont look so cool. And a GB setup will get your budget several times over
