need help with new vette 350 i just bought.

hello im jake and im new to this site. but i thought maybe someone on here can help me. i just got a old 350 from my friend and im trying to get all the details on it so i know what im workinbg with. it came out of a 1980 corvette. the cast number 14010207 said its a 350 with a 2 or 4 bolt. but the factory casting number is VO225ZAR and i cant find that vin within any vette data. it came with a weland 8004 intake and a 650 qjet. so if anyone can help me find more details about this motor it would be very helpful. thanks jake.

Are you sure that the letter code is ZAR? There is a ZRA code that matches a Corvette but my book shows no ZAR

By 1980 the Vette 5.7 was starting to get a little weak. HP was either 190 or 230, and compression was down in the 8.2 to 9.0 range. Not a horrible engine, and it can be bumped up with standard hop up techniques. If it runs ok now use it and redo it later on when you feel the need for more speed.

thanks don. yea the motor only puts out 230 from factory spec. and 270 tq, it had 90k on the motor i.just started cleaning the block cuz it some old dry oil on it. but if i was to rebuild it what would be a good slection of parts to use. ive never build a motor besides my 2.3 grand am motor.

14010207 is probably not not a Corvette motor. It's a 350 - could be 2 or 4 bolt (as you already know) and was used in all passenger, i.e., Camaro, Malibu, Impala, etc as well as light duty trucks. 190hp in the 2 bolt configuration and 230hp in the 4 bolt. It would have been a late production for 1980. If you can you get the number off the front pad (passenger side) as that could help us decipher when exactly it was made..
