    Question Adapter for #1406

Installing an Edelbrock #1406 on 327/300 hp stock Corvette - serial #3858174 with intake # 3872783 for my '52 Stude/Miller Roadster. S.W. fuel pump supplies carburetor. Is a phenolic type adapter best suited for my application. What is the best adapter recommended? Thanks for any info and of course your time.

Walt Give me more info. What do you want to use a adapter for. I'm not formilar with the intake number. Are you afraid the carb is going to sit to high or maybe you want it higher. Bart

Not really an intent to raise the carburetor. Space is at a premium now. Some possibly misinformation was forwarded to me that an adapter would be required to match up with my stock manifold. Presently have a 180 thermostat with no problems but may switch to a 160 with summer running. Just desire to correctly match the 1604 with my intake. Photo Thanks.

Walt The 1406 should fit your stock manifold. You will have to do some retuning of the carb, but in case I/m wrong give Edelbrock a call. Bart

In swapping out the AVS with the 1406 I was concerned as to heat transfer. Thanks Bart

I have a 327/300 from a 63 corvette in my 50 f1 pu and It has an offenhouser intake that was set up for a quadrajet and i put the adaptor on to go from the quad to a 1406 square bore, the way I understand it they are good even if going from square bore to square bore. alum is ok phenolic that will transfer less heat is even better. Surely do thank all for the input about my dilemma. My '52 Stude. -Roadster is used mostly for cruising with an option for performance. While cooler air piped in from outside engine compartment would for sure be the answer, desire to keep same body configuration poses a problem. Using my Spal 2360 cfm puller fan and changing thermostat will probably be the best that I can hope for. Thanks again for info. Next confrontation for this curmudgeon is to figure out how to hard pipe from electric fuel pump on drivers side with direct connection to 1406. Have threaded flex hose at pump discharge, but wish to remain solid to carb and avoid a banjo fitting with barbed connections. Again-thanks for your time.

I don't know if you have you issue fixed, but if you are going from spread bore to square try and EDE 1932 if my memory serves me it is universal
Can you rebuild a Qjet without breaking a nail?
