Good 400 cores and engines are getting harder to find. a stock motor only makes around 265 hp but a good core is endless the hp capabilties, i bought my 1970 400 4 bolt as a core for $250 but the only thing i used orginal was the block only built a 406. but if you find out the year of the motor that will tell you if its a 4 bolt or 2 bolt 1970-73 blocks are 4 bolts but 1500 is a little high even for a combo tranny and engine.
