YES there is a STOCK alternative for you!
You need a rochester quatrojet DUALJET.
It has a 'stock' body, but nothing is drilled for the secondaries. It has a top plate which covers over the secondaries.
These were made for only two years, so they are a tad hard to find. I found mine on ebay. They work great and get good economy..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.
