Just the usual, is it the correct timing pointer for the balancer, has the outer ring on the harmonic balancer slipped??? A quick check is to pull #1 plug, run the piston to TDC and make sure the timing pointer and the mark on the balancer are lined up...Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

what kind of distributor? might be it needs re-curved with different sized bushing... only getting 16* of lead from idle doesn't seem like much... what is idle rpm? If it's high it could be you already have some advance in at idle.

I think it should drop back at least 20*. Sounds like you've got some advance already in at idle. Springs too light? Some HEIs are set up to bring in 5-6* as early as 900 RPM. Light weight springs can bring in timing as low as 500 RPM.Last edited by Henry Rifle; 08-16-2008 at 11:22 PM.

time for a new forum to visit. when they sold sr.com it went down hill fast. no more forum just a cheap site selling junkie cars. the canadians killed hr.com. mods are real pricks. as with any site...
