Many moons ago, Schneider Cams had some really strong skinny block flat tappet cams, don't know if they still do or not. They had real good selection and price was reasonable, too. Used to be they could get you as close to a custom grind as you could get without paying the big $$$$ for a custom grind....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Pat, should you alter the valve spring pressures when using the new "trick of the month" cams with the higher ramp speeds???Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

the springs will drop off 10 lbs on the EX and i would like more on a hiwinder but before you get all ready to put that killer cam in thing have to not flex and if the pushrod are not the right size well??Irish Diplomacy ..the ability to tell someone to go to Hell ,,So that they will look forward to to the trip

print out the tech sheet and make some calls to the cam companies! These guys are the experts and all it costs is a phone call. The numbers Pat put up should be close.... I've always had real good results with them, accuracy on the sheet is the most important thing!!!!!
Just a personal thing, and nothing scientific to back it up, but I've never gone over 525 lift unless it was on a mechanical roller....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Some lightweight components would help it live a little better. Been out of the engine stuff for a lot of years, would like to try some of the newer stuff sometime....

I suppose duration in the 280 range? Would be close to what my old Henry skinny block liked.... Circle tracking (chebbie 355) we ran .515, think the duration was 282. Ran like gangbusters at the end of the straight, right at 7,000 revs.... car weighed 2550 and a 3 speed trans running in 2nd gear....

on the sand drag stuff i seen stuff hit when it should of never hit cut the seal right off the guids and hammer the top of the guild s with triples the weight and the spring just can not keep up and starts to jump up and down it just can not hold up then bad things hapenIrish Diplomacy ..the ability to tell someone to go to Hell ,,So that they will look forward to to the trip

Make sure you use some clay and check the piston to valve clearance, always used .100 clearance as a minimum...... Don't know if that is accurate for a chebbie or not????

Yup, the heavy valves and pushrods can make things go bang that have lots of clearance!!!!! (Please don't ask me how I know this!
