    got heads-cam time!

Well, I've got my new heads- DART IE's- now I'm looking at a Lunati bracket master cam something like this- ad. dur. at 284* and at .050 218* with a lift of .458- rpm range of 1500 to 5200 which seems to be about my limits on that as I've hardly ever broke 5500 rpm. This would go in sbc 350 bored .060 over with 350 auto and 3.73 gears in the rear. Holley 300-36 dual plane intake with Holley 600 vac. sec.. Have 1 5/8" dynomax headers with an x-pipe and exiting just in front of rear tires. Does this seem like a setup that would work for the street without being too doggy trying to get going? Oh, it's in a 3800 lb. 1971 chevy 1/2 ton pickup that seemed to take off half decent with stock heads and summit cam- 204*-214* and .420 and .442" lift on 112 lsa. Anybody willing to take a SWAG at what this might do?

I'm certainly no cam selection master, but in a sled the size of the burban, think I might back off on the cam a bit and go more for the towing and hauling type, maybe in the 260-270 advertised range???? I dunno, would be good to hear what Pat, Erik, and some of the engine builders think......

Not knowing what the tranny is or stall on the convertor, I wouldn't shy away from .280 adv duration. But I would like to see "my" project have at least .480"-.500" lift on intake. Making sure the exhaust grabs 20-30% more lift and approx 15% more duration than intake.
What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?

Well, the tranny setup is stock as far as I know but I got it used out of a mid 70's camaro that a tree fell on. If I go with the roller tip rockers I have the lift would go up to .488 lift with the 1.6 ratio on the rockers. What kind of stall would you be thinking of for something like this?

It's up to you for "feel". You could run 2000 stall and not hurt street drivung. In reality, stock stall is very useable. Remember, higher the stall, the more need for a good tranny cooler.

They are 165 cc intake runners that have been ported out to 170cc, or possibly a little bit more. They have 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust valves. Intake manifold was also port matched to the heads so things should flow fairly smoothly, I hope.

Thank you, that is something like what I wanted to here. Well, guess I'm off to try and get some progress made before it gets too late and end up spending half the night in garage
