    have fixed iron blocks the way to fix this is to open it up so you can weld it so it go,s past the threads and grind it out all of the old threads and fill with 99 nickel i will tell you the rod that i use .before some one chimes in. i have fix many block with this rod and it works the best period use it. i have try other they do not work as good it is weld mold 700 rod heat to 400 with a torch work back to get a big area warm weld abit stop pein keep warm by warming with a torch weld some pein till done let cool slow grind and tap here are things that may help you the you need to heat to do the repair this keeps the iron from get hard in the heat zone if you get it hot and cools you will have a hard spot and it will not tap. the rod works the best in ac . with this rod i have fixed decks bolt hole weld long cracks out side an in side of the block and welded oil pan rails up parts were gone and filled them with this rod it works if you can not fine it you can buy it from them on the net at weldmold there in mich
