i wouldnt go through all the hassle to bypass the cooler ,tape a piece of cardboard over the cooler for winter, if you want to keep the oil warmer. we bloke off the whole radiator opening across the grill up here when it gets cold so the vehicle will warm up.

i have a 350 with the same set up and i'm wondering if you could take that cooler adapter off and just use a standard chev. spin on oil filter?
