    oil cooler adapter

i have an oil cooler on my truck. I am about to install a rebuilt 350 and would like to bypass the cooler for the break in and during the winter months. Can I simply plug the inlet and outlet to the cooler and the adapter, or is it more complex? If plugged will it still function as just an oil filter mount? This is how it was plumbed while I primed the engine and it seems to working ok, filter is full and oil is reaching top end. Any thoughts would be appreciated as I am planning to put it in place this weekend. Thanks for all of your help so far.

i wouldnt go through all the hassle to bypass the cooler ,tape a piece of cardboard over the cooler for winter, if you want to keep the oil warmer. we bloke off the whole radiator opening across the grill up here when it gets cold so the vehicle will warm up.

i have a 350 with the same set up and i'm wondering if you could take that cooler adapter off and just use a standard chev. spin on oil filter?
