I've run into the same problem in the past and usually cure it 1 of three ways.

1. Scrounge the wrecking yards to find something that will work.

2. Extend the existing bracket by welding on an extension (strictly for cars that are drivers).

3. Build a new one of of flat stock and either paint or plate it. (If you can't do it yourself it will be cheaper to bite the bullet and buy the high price stuff).
