I assume that the shop who sold it to you sold it as a good engine.Did you check the torque on the heads?White smoke is usally coolent.Either a cracked head,block or a leaking head gasket.Did you get a warrenty?Go back to the man who sold it to you and have them help you figure it out.Chances are they want you to be happy with your purchase.It can't hurt.There's no such thing as a mistake,only more welding.
